I fully realize that this makes me an uber-nerd and perhaps I shouldn’t share this publicly but I LOVE the Westminster Dog Show. I know, I know, I know. But I dig it. Seriously this shit is fascinating. Not only can dogs be bred for specific tasks, adapt and ‘evolve’ almost before our eyes (Bull Dogs were so named because their main purpose was to bait bulls, now look at them), but also dogs have at least 8 biological ways of detecting light and vibrations when all we have are ears and eyes. They can predict seizures!

Why do I point out my own weird quirks, well because the Super Bowl of dog shows starts tonight: The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Tonight and Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, broadcast on USA. If you need more reasons to love dog shows, watch Christopher Guest’s masterpiece ‘Best in Show’. And for those of you that have seen it and didn’t like it, watch it two more times and if you aren’t quoting it by the end of the third watch, you are dead inside.

‘If you get tired, pull over, if you get, hungry eat something’ best quote next to ‘Stupid, Hotel, Manager!’
